About Me
Wednesday, 11/3
Drove from Florence, SC to Columbia, SC this morning (about an hour drive). Visited the Riverbanks Zoo in Columbia. It was great. Lots of walking. There was a garden area to visit across the Saluda River. I took advantage of that, as well. It was a relatively cool day - overcast - so the hot sun didn't exhaust me.
Below are some photos from the zoo.
Later on, I saw him grabbing some leaves from a closer tree.
This particular species of elephant grow horns throughout their life. They are not actually horns, but teeth.
Amazing things one learns at the zoo.
He (or she) is posing majestically for me in this photo.
They say zebra stripes are like human fingerprints. No two are alike. I entered 'The Birdhouse' at Riverbanks and four or five of these fellows flocked me. One landed on my right shoulder and wouldn't leave. I stood petrified. The zoo keeper finally got him/her off my shoulder so I could finish my tour of the aviary.

Did you know sea lions belch? This one was declaring a mighty loud one as I shot this photo.
This poor fellow was trying so hard to reach the leaves. He wasn't successful.
The zebra. Beautiful, beautiful animals.
Riverbanks Zoo
This feline looks like he's almost daring me to take a photo!
This is the Saluda River. And yes, I did have to walk over a bridge to get this photo. I gingerly walked to the edge to take this shot. That's a big thing for me for I have a fear of heights.
For my friends back in Colorado, here's some green and trees.
